Abstract

As a new approach to reduce vibration for a hydraulic excavator's cabin, a mount, which combines the elastic force from air-spring with shear force from viscous fluid, is proposed. It is a basic idea that the air-spring provides dynamic stiffness while the shear force in oil between the two coaxial cylinders provides loss stiffness and plays a role of the damper. The air-spring's neutral height can be easily set at an arbitrary by adjusting the pressure of the air-spring in accordance with the supporting weight. The prototype of the composite mount was created. Its dynamic characteristics were measured in the various conditions to check the dependency on the displacement, frequency, pressure of air-spring and oil viscosity. In addition, the mechanism was theoretically analyzed to derive the formulation of the dynamic characteristics from its design parameters. Finally, the dynamic characteristics by design parameters were compared with measured data and the error of the formulation was quantitatively evaluated.
