Description
In the present paper, rim thickness factor in load capacity calculation of plastic gear is determined using result of FEA and tooth bending stress is calculated considering the developed rim thickness factor. And endurance test on the POM gears having rim-web structure is carried out under room temperature and 353K. Tooth bending stress calculated using rim thickness ratio 1.0 was linear with cycles to crack initiation in every gear having various rim thickness. Using the developed rim thickness factor, tooth bending stress can be related to cycles to crack initiation regardless of rim thickness.
