Abstract
The pressing process in manufacturing of glass containers was numerically simulated to study the effects of initial temperature distribution of a body of molten glass called "gob", heat transfer at the glass-mold boundary and the pressing pressure. It was proven that the initial temperature distribution influences the final temperature distribution and deformation speed, and that heat transfer at the wall boundary also affects the final temperature distribution and deformation speed due to heat loss. Increase of the pressing pressure increases the deformation speed and causes pronounced heat production by viscous dissipation.
