The light contact magnetic recording is suggested in order to reduce the flying height of head-disk interface (HDI). In light contact magnetic recording, the head slider vibrates by the friction occurs at contacting the slider and the disk surface. In this study, the vibration behaviors of the slider with the fabricated the dynamic flying height (DFH) protrusion by the focused ion beam (FIB) to reduce the friction force were measured by the acoustic emission (AE) and the friction at the touchdown process of the slider on disk surface. As the results, FIB fabrication reduced the friction force and the light contact regime of the slider with the FIB fabrication became longer than that without the fabrication.
