Description
The authors studied the effects of cement content and molding pressure on the qualities of Durisol board.
Test specimens of Durisol were made from various mixing proportions and by three different pressures. Specific gravity, bending strength, water absorption and fire resistance were tested in two groups. Specimens of lighter specific gravity were tested in the first test, heavier specimens in the second test. It is generally said that ;
(1) The linear relation exists between cement content and specific gravity.
(2) In the case of standard molding pressure, bending strength is concerned with specific gravity in linear relation, but the strength of Durisol is affected by the strength of the used cement.
(3) The greater the specific gravity, the less water absorption, but Durisol-admixed schrot absorbs water more that non-schrot in the same mixing proportion. The schrot is the crushed Durisol.
(4) The greater the specific gravity, the greater the fire resistance, in the case where specific gravity is less than 0.55, but, in over 0.55, the influence of specific gravity on fire resistance are very small.
(5) Of the same mixing proportion, the heavier the pressure exerted on Durisol, the less is the carbonized depth, in fire resistance test.
