Abstract

Yanahara Central Shaft is open square shaft of which section area is 5m×4m, and total depth is 604m.(surface 62m, underground 542m) Winding machine of 800kW (Ward Leonard System, Single Drum Double Winding Type) and bottom damp skips with capacity of 5.5 tons per trip are to be eqipped, and it will become main haulage shaft in this Autumn.<BR>Sinking was started on 29th Apr. 1959, and accomplished on 3rd Mar.next year. During that time 483m of sinking and 147m of level driving-totally 630m of driving was performed. And that, no accident happened through all the time. Under carefull considerations sinking operation was highly mechanized in order to obtain effective and safe work chiefly as follows.<BR>1. Drilling by six drifters utilizing scaffold in stead of roof.<BR>2. Mucking waste by “Joy Shaft Mucker”.<BR>3. Winding by “three kibble double winding system”.<BR>The authors describe the methods and results of sinking operation briefly.
