Abstract

In Japan the underground working places in metal and coal mines already are considerably deep and hot. One of the most urgent problems which confronts the Japanese engineer today is that of winning coal under increasingly high temperature conditions, and that of providing comfortable working conditions at the face of heading which is being driven into hot strata. In some collieries, for example in Miike and Takasima, ore already used refrigerators. When we wish to use the refrigerator for cooling, we must know the relation between the quantity of cooling air from the refrigerator and the temperature at the face of heading.
The temperature of ventilating air in gallery is increased by many heat sources. These heat sources in underground gallery are the heat from the rock wall, heat from the oxidation of coal and timber support etc. The author exammined the increase of temperature of ventilating air in gallery mathematically and theoretically, and derived a equation. We can get the temperature of ventilating air in gallery by using this equation.
This equation is very usefull for the practical ventilating plan. In this paper, the author refered to a thesis of Boporiaeo in USSR.
