In the area of Tôgô mine and its vicinity of the Ningyô-tôge uranium field, there are three types of granite, namely Okutsu, Ningyô-tôge, and Ogamo. Nearly horizontally stratified strata of Misasa group of Neogene Tertiary lie uncomformably on these granites and this group has three cycles on the point of volcano-stratigraphy. Uranium has been deposited in the lower beds of Misasa group, and its location is controlled by the so-called channel structure on the surface of unconformity of the granites. Uranium is mainly found in basal conglomerate and arkose, and rarely in shale and tuff etc. Ore grade is 0.07-0.10% U3O8.
Several uranium minerals are found, namely ningyôite, uraninite, and coffinite as the primary minerals and autunite and β-uranophane, etc. as the secondary minerals.
It is thought that these uranium deposits are epigenetic and uranium was deposited from the underground water.
