Abstract

The high speed extractions of Co, Ni and Mn from Mn nodules under hydrothermal conditions were investigated.
The effects of conditions such as temperature, concentration of solution and reaction time on extraction of metals were examined with H2SO4, HNO3, HC1 and these ammonium salts solutions by use of microautoclave (15cm3).
It was found that extraction ratios of Ni, Co and Mn had a maximum values at 300°C for 10min, and these ratios were 91, 99 and 54%, respectively. However, in the case of using acidic solution, extraction ratios of Ni, Co and Mn were extracted differentially with the temperature gradientbetween 100 to 300°C. The extraction ratio of Ni is about 60% but that of Co and Mn below 5% at 100°C with 0.72 mol·dm-3 H2SO4 solution, however that of Co is about 75% and that of Mn below 10% at 250°C. These results may show the possibility of differentiate extraction with same acidic solution, and beside, treatability of industrial scale with use of pipe line system autoclave.
