Description

Since pumping efficiency of a rotor in Warman-Flotator is not sufficiently high, it is necessary to consider the following iteme in order to increase self-air-inhaling capacity and to decrease the power consumption:
(a) To decrease submergence of the rotor for reducing air-intake resistance.
(b) To enlarge bottom clearance of the rotor for decreasing inlet resistance caused by pulp circulation over the cell bottom.
(c) To combine the rotor with stabilizers for ensuring necessary, agitating flow over the cell bottom. For these requirements the present writers have come to the following conclusion through their experiments;
(1) Bottom clearance had each optimum values for obtaining maximum self-air-inhaling capacity and minimum power consumption, which was reduced by increasing peripheral speed of the rotor.
(2) Also, submergence had an optimum value. Power consumption was decreased by reducing the submergence, but self-air-inhaling capacity was decreased with the submergence at higher peripheral speed of the rotor.
(3) Self-air-inhaling capacity was decreased by the increase of recirculating, dispersed air bubbles into the rotor, in case of the excess bottom clearance as well as below optimum submergence.
