抄録

When cobalt-bearing arsenopyrite is subjected to distillation above 700°C in vacuo, arsenic may be volatilized as elemental arsenic and arsenic disulfide with the dearsenising-efficiency of more than 98%, and the resulted residue showed a composition of cobalt-bearing pyrrhotite.<BR>The extraction of cobalt from cobalt-bearing pyrrhotite has been investigated in order to find out an optimum condition of the roasting, and a relation between distillation temperature and cobalt recovery.<BR>The most effective roasting temperature for converting cobalt to soluble form was found to be 550°C-575°C where more than 70% of the cobalt in the calcine was leached with water, and about 90% recovery with 10% H2SO4 solution.<BR>It should be noted that the existence of arsenic in calcine has a large influence on the formation of water soluble cobalt, i. e. a complete elimination of arsenic should be needed to attain high leachingefficiency of cobalt. The low cobalt lecovery can be attributed to the presence of cobaltite in the calcine.
