抄録

The behaviors of silicic acid during the electrolytic winning of zinc have been studied. Some effects of silicic acid were made clear quantitatively.<BR>1) During the roasting of zinc concentrate selective formation of lead silicate takes place.<BR>2) Zinc silicate dissolves during the acidic leaching but not neutral leaching.<BR>3) During the neutral leaching lead silicate decomposes and liberates silicic acid into solution.<BR>4) Below pH 2 silicic acid remains as monomeric type but above pH 2 polymerizes.<BR>5) The concentration of silicic acid in zinc electrolyte is much higher than that estimated from solubility of amorphous silicic acid. By the precipitation of ferric hydroxide the concentration of silicic acid decreases remarkably.<BR>6) Effect of silicic acid on the viscosity of electrolyte is very little.<BR>7) No precipitation such as calcium silicate is observed.
