Description

The first summary of NYC was reported in 1968 on this journal. Since then, 12 years after the report, the production system of NYC has been improved quite drastically. The solvent extraction process, which was first introduced by Thorium Limited, is a batch process. Today, at NYC, we have invented a new technology, the continuous extraction process. It is an integration among the original apparatus of a batch process, and the old batch system was completely diminished from our work. Therefore we can produce 30 ton Y2O3 per year. At the same time, we produce other rare earths (Sm2O3, Gd2O3, Tb2O3, Dy2O3, Er2O3 etc.) as by-products through ion exchanged apparatus which has been rebuilt for that purpose from production of Y2O3.
