Description

Fujioka Smelter, which was brought into production in 1966, is producing electrolytic iron, using, as raw material, iron-rich residues produced in the zinc fuming process at Annaka Smelter and Onahama Plant of Ryoho Recycle Co.<BR>The process is composed of reducing and smelting the material in the electric furnace, and refining pig iron in the converter, and then casting anodes which will be electrolyzed to the purest iron “Mairon” in cathodic plates. These electrorefined plates are crushed into coarse fragments called “Flakes”, a part of which are shipped to the user with the rest being pulvelized into fine electrolytic iron powder for various uses.
