In this paper, the authors analyzed the critical velocity (i. e. at which the pressure loss of mixture is minimum.) of pseudo-plastic fluid flow containing coarse particles in a hydraulically smooth pipe set up horizontally, since it is one of the very important factors for determination of transportation velocity. Moreover, the authors proposed the lower limited value of transportation velocity, which was calculated from the lower critical Reynolds number, when the carrier fluid, which has the characteristics of pseudo-plastic fluid owing to the suspending fine particles only temporarily, is used in hydraulic transportation of coarse particles.<BR>The critical Froude number and the lower limited value of transportation velocity were obtained as Eq.(12) and Eq.(14) respectively. The analyzed results of critical velocity were compared with the experimental ones concerning the mixture of crushed rocks and bentonite slurry, which has the characteristics of pseudo-plastic fluid. The critical Froude number was compared with the other researchers' results in hydraulic transportation of the mixture of solids and water.<BR>It is known from the comparison that the analyzed critical velocity agreed with the experimental ones and the values of critical Froude number were almost the same as the results analyzed by Toda and Kriegel in high volume concentration of solids and almost the same as the results given by Brain and Wilson in low volume concentration.
