抄録

Most of the laboratory rock cutting test postulate implicitly that the model rule is valid in the mechanics of rock cutting. In order to establish the validity of this often postulated, but not verified model rule, a series of laboratory rock cutting tests is conducted in the wide range of the depth of cut and width of blade.<BR>Assuming the validity of model rule, the equation of rock cutting should maintain dimensional homogenity. Considering this theoretical requirement, a general form of the equation of cutting force is deduced, by means of dimensional analysis.<BR>Based on the test result as well as the theoretical consideration, the equation of rock cutting is determined. It is conclude that (1) the equation of cutting force is expressed as P=(at/B+b)·t·B+c which maintains dimensional homogenity;(2) any equation satisfying the model rule is not determined for the thrust force;(3) the cross-sectional area of excavated groove A is expressed as A=(at/B+1)·t·B which maintains dimensional homogenity; where t is the depth of cut and B is the width of blade.
