抄録
A carburetor gasoline engine used for a small generator on the market is under the operation of rich air excess ratio and fixed spark timing. Then the authors modified the engine to vary spark timing and air excess ratio and improved in thermal efficiency. Stoichiometric air excess ratio is achieved with O_2 sensor. Fuel consumption and cylinder pressure are measured to calculate rate of heat release, combustion duration, and indicated thermal efficiency. Pressure in the cylinder showed the engine operated with large cycle by cycle variation. The results are discussed in comparison with cycle simulation.
