Description
Aerodynamic noises from aircrafts or high speed trains have caused serious problems for neighboring areas. Recently, much effort has been made to reduce the noises through computational analysis. There are two approaches to simulate aerodynamic sounds; direct method and splitting method. The latter is to simulate flow field and acoustic field separately. In this paper, Cartesian-based flow solver, Building-Cube Method (BCM), is selected for solving flow field due to its capability to handle real complex geometries. The unsteady pressure variation on surface is integrated in Curle' s equation to analyze acoustic field. This approach has been applied to analyze aerodynamic sound from a circular cylinder and compared with numerical and experimental result. The result has proved the capability of BCM and Curle's equation for aerodynamic noise estimation.
