Abstract
In the present work, one attempt was made to reinforce pure aluminum by stainless steel short fibers and four kinds of aluminum composites reinforced by stainless steel short fiber were fabricated by hot isostatic pressing (HIP) followed by a treatment of rotary swaging (RS). The properties of the specimens were evaluated in the following aspects: density, average surface hardness, orientation coefficient of fiber and tensile strength. The microstructures were also observed using an optical microscope and a scanning electron microscope.
