抄録

The authors studied the change of app-motion on the plotting of target vessel when observer's vessel altered course and speed, and considered anti-collision manoeuver when using Radar. When two vessels are approaching one another end on or crossing which each vessels foward of other's beam, the results obtained are as follows ; (1) When observer's vessel altered her course, the change of the app-angle on the target vessel's plot is approximately equal to k' times the alteration of observer's course, where k' is shown in table 1. (2) Effect of alteration of observer's speed on target app-angle is shown in Fig.7. The change of app-angle on the target vessel's plot is maximum when the speed ratio is 1.2〜1.5. (3) The error of app-course, due to the errors in reading range and bearing front the P.P.I. is considerable great as shown in table 2. (4) Under conditions when two vessels are approaching so as to involve risk of collision, it is necessary to take a bold action for avoiding the collision.
