Abstract

There have been none report of dogielinotid Amphipoda on the coast of Japan. The family were recorded from the USSR coast of the Japan Sea and Okhotsk Sea, and also reported from northern California. The author collected some gammarids on sandy beach at Hakodate, in Japan, and found some Haustorioides (Dogielinotidae) in the collection. Though H. munsterhjermi only was described hitherto by OLDEVIG and J. L. BARNARD in this genus, the author's specimen is defferent from Oldevig's one in some morphological characteristics. It differs in the number of articlates of 2nd antenna, the shape of 5th articlate of 3rd peraeopod, the setae type of dactylus of 3-4th pereopods, the tooth size of pleonal epimera 1-3, and the telson form. Therefore, I wish to describe as H. sp. herein, to proceed with the ecological studies until they were concluded by authoritative taxonomist.
