Abstract

This paper reviews the results of basic research conducted by the author's group to determine appropriate methods to develop protein-based drugs. These include production strategies, elucidation of physiologic function, improving existing pharmaceuticals, de novo design, and protein reconstruction. The antigenicity of modified proteins and methods to induce antigenic protein tolerance are also described.<br>
