Abstract
There are many advantages in using emulsified fuels. The emulsified fuels with secondary atomization can enhance the transformation efficiency of fuels, and more importantly they can reduce NOx emission and particulate matter. In this paper, the secondary atomization is observed when an emulsified fuel droplet is heated by an electric furnace. The secondary atomization of the fuel droplet has been classified into micro-explosion and puffing by the high-speed photography. In addition, it is proposed that the A. E. (Acoustic Emission) technique is used for the judgment of the generation of micro-explosion. It is confirmed to judge the generation of micro-explosion by the sound pressure or its FFT analysis.
