Abstract

In this paper I will investigate some consequences of Inada and Imanishi's (2003) proposal with respect to the architecture of the faculty of language. Specifically, I will argue that the distributional properties of complementizer deletion phenomena in some languages are derived from Recoverability Condition, a legibility (interface) condition, in conjunction with mood hierarchy, a performance requirement.
