Description

Two brachiopod species, Eolyttonia diabloensis (Stehli, 1954) and Permophricodothyris horii Tazawa, Ono and Miyake, sp. nov., are described from the Permian Akasaka Limestone, Akasaka, Mino Belt, central Japan. The occurrence of the two species suggests that in the Permian, the Akasaka area was located most likely in the mid Panthalassan equatorial region, between the Palaeotethys and the North American continent.
