Description

Electrochemical noise analysis, based on FFT analysis of random signals, was applied to corrosion potential of Pt, SUS 304 and SUS 316 in 0.05mM H2SO4 before and after 1M Cl- addition. The noise data obtained were represented as the three dimensional noise spectra (noise intensity, time, frequency), using a personal computer. At the same time, the generation probability of the noise for each frequency was given as histogram, in a given period of the immersion.<br>It was found that the noise intensity on Pt markedly decreased with the addition of Cl-, being kept constant in the following long period. For austenitic stainless steels, it was recognized for the noise intensity in lower frequency side to increase gradually after Cl- addition, along with some increasing tendency in the frequency of the noise generation events. It was also shown that the generation probability of noise on Pt was depressed to lower level essentially in all frequency range, while probability maximum appearing around 0.2Hz for austenitic stainless steels.
