The electrochemical behavior of Ni-Cr-Fe overlay weld alloys dispersed niobium carbide were studied in deaerated 1N H2SO4 solution containing NaCl. The layers of overlay weld on carbon steel substrate consisted of Ni, Cr and Fe matrix composites. The morphology of dispersed niobium carbide particles in the layer was large cycloid and partly of dendrite and fine granular. In the case of matrix composition with Fe content more than 40%, the anodic dissolution increased with decreasing Ni and Cr contents, and pitting potential sifted on negative direction with increasing NaCl concentration. With Fe content less than 10%, anodic polarization curve remained unchanged with increasing NbC or NaCl concentration. It was found that overlay weld alloys with Ni and Cr content higher than 30% or with Fe content less than 40% had an excellent corrosion resistance, while showed no influence of dispersing hight niobum cabide content.
