Abstract

T-1982, a new semisynthetic cephamycin antibiotic, was administered intravenously at a dose of 500 mg twice daily to 84 patients with genito-urinary tract infections to evaluate the safety and therapeutic efficacy of the drug.<BR>The results obtained were as follows:<BR>1) The clinical effect in 2 patients with simple pyelonephritis was moderate, the rate of effectiveness being 100%.<BR>2) The clinical effect in 73 patients with complicated urinary tract infections (acute pyelonephritis 1, chronic pyelonephritis 1 and chronic cystitis 71) was excellent in 16 cases, moderate in 34 cases and poor in 23 cases, the rate of effectiveness being 68.5 %.<BR>3) The clinical effect in 9 patients with genital organ infections (acute epididymitis 4 and acute prostatitis<BR>5) was excellent in 6 cases and moderate in 3 cases, the rate of effectiveness being 100%.<BR>4) As for side effects, one patient developed diarrhea. Temporary elevation of GOT and GPT in 6 cases, that of GOT, GPT and Al-P in 3 cases and that of Al-P in 1 case were observed.
