Abstract
The in vitro activity of DL-8280 was compared with the activities of norfloxacin (NFLX), pipemidic acid (PPA), piromidic acid (PA) and nalidixic acid (NA) against clinical bacterial isolates. DL-8280 was found to be 10-100 times more active than PPA, PA or NA against S. aureus and S. faecalis. NFLX was also active, but slightly less active than DL-8280.<BR>Against E. coli, P. aeruginosa and S. marcescens, DL-8280 was more active than PPA, PA or NA, but slightly less active than NFLX. The growth of N. gonorrhoeae including penicillin resistant strains were completely inhibited by≤0.10μ/ml of DL-8280.
