Description

Studies were carried out to investigate the composition of C8∼C10 aromatic hydrocarbons in reformed naphtha.
1) Straight run Kuwait naphtha (100∼207°C) was reformed using a platinum-alumina commercial reforming catalyst at the temperature 450∼510°C, the pressure 20∼50atm., the liquid hourly space velocity 1∼3 and the mole ratio of hydrogen to hydrocarbon 10. From the above results, the relationship between the operating conditions and the yields or compositions of C6∼C11 aromatic hydrocarbons in those reformates was investigated.
2) Kuwait and North Sumatra naphthas having boiling ranges of 100∼140°C, 100∼160°C, 100∼170°C, 100∼180°C, 100∼190°C, 100∼200°C, 100∼207°C and 100∼220°C were reformed. The relation between those fractions and the composition of aromatic hydrocarbon in reformate is discussed.
3) The straight run naphthas of Kuwait, Gach Saran, Khafji, North Sumatra, Ekhabinskaya and naphtha obtained from hydrodesulfurization of Khafji residue with a boiling range of 100∼207°C were also reformed. From the data obtained, the characteristic features and composition of C6∼C11 aromatic hydrocarbons in those reformates are discussed.
