The authors report the endoscopic findings of 28 cases of the early gastric cancer discovered by gastrocamera and fibergastroscopic examination during the period from August, 1960 to June, 1968.<br>In this period, 674 cases of the gastric cancer have undergone operative treatment and 473 cases were resectable, consequently these 28 cases of the early gastric cancer were found at the rate of 5.9 per cent of the resectable gastric cancers. These 28 cases will be classified into three groups following the endoscopic findings of the early gastric cancer such as Type I protruded form: 6 cases, Type II superficial form: 16 cases and Type III excavated form: 6 cases. The early gastric cancer were found most frequently in the patients aged 50 to 60. The ratio male to female was 2.5 to 1.0. These were found in definitely highest degree at the antrum and then at the angle of the stomach. Atrophic gastritis was found in 89.3 per cent of our cases. Among many complaints, we have experienced epigastric pain in 53.6 per cent, The longest duration of the patient's complaints was epigastric pain and it was between 6 months to 1 year (50 per cent). 13 cases showed achylia (46.4 per cent), and positive occult blood in stool was seen in 96.4 per cent. Histological finding showed adenocarcinoma in 89.3 per cent. In the findings of gastrocamera concerning the early gastric cancer, type II was most frequently experienced following by type I and type III.<br>In type II, II c was frequently observed and to find these slight cavity will be certain for diagnosis in early stage. The following signs such as irregularity of the elevation of the mucous membrane, uneven and rough surface or bleeding in type I, irregular ulcer, broken relief, bleeding or dirty mucous surface in type III will be noteworthy to characterizè malignancy in early stage of gastric cancer.
