Description
The nozzle-roll gap in the melt spinning is usually set closer than slit clearance of the nozzle, and puddle is held between nozzle and roll. At high roll speed and high ejection pressure of the melt, the puddle is broken and melt flows off (back break). We succeeded to make foil under the back break conditions setting nozzle-roll gap wider than slit clearance. The surface condition of the foil made with back break is more sound than the foil made by holding puddle. The diagram which consists of roll speed and ejection pressure is established in order to estimate the foil condition. The area in which sound foil can be made is compared between the diagram of back break and the diagram of puddle holding, and it has been found clear that the method of "high roll speed and high ejection pressure method" is suitable for making sound foil.
