Abstract
The aging phenomena of Al-1.2%Mg2Si alloys containing Cu up to 0.75% were studied by means of hardness, calorimetric and electric resistivity measurements, and transmision electron microscopy. The initial rate of aging at 175°C and the maximum hardness increase. Lowering of the strength due to "stored aging" is relieved as the additional amount of Cu is increased, because Q' phases of a quarternary compound also precipitate in the alloys containing Cu adding to needle-like G.P. zones.
