Abstract
1% of phosphate mainly containing (NaPO3)6 (P-flux) and P-flux with S 0.05 to 1%, K2S 1%, P2S5 1%, ZnS 1% or V 0.4% were introduced into molten Al-20%Si and JIS-AC9B alloys. Supplementally introducing sulfur 0.1 to 0.2% successively after P-fluxing is preferable to single addition of P-flux and combined additions of P-flux and P2S5, ZnS or V. EPMA shows that supplementally added sulfur segregates in nucleating AlP particles in primary Si crystals. Sulfur has an effect on the nucleation behavior of AlP nuclei.
