説明

Several collections of the armyworm, Pseudaletia seperata WALKER, were brought into the laboratory to determine the incidence of parasitism by parasitoids, both at high and low infestation, in three sites of the mainland of Japan. Parasitism was quite low, 6%, at the outbreak-151 larvae /m2, but higher, 59. 3-81.3%, at the low infestation-lower than 0.061 larvae /m2. A gregarious braconid. parasitoid, Apanteles kariyai WATANABE, was the most abundant species. As its secondary parasitoids, Eupteromalus sp. was found in Hiroshima and Mesochorus discitergus (SAY, 1936) in Iwate Pref. The mean pupal period of A. kariyai was 5.6 days, the adult longevity ranged from3-4 days at 25°C, provided with 5% sugar solutions. The number of larvae percocoon mass ranged from 29-47 using C195 and averaged 38. The adult sex ratio ranged from 82.9-90.1% using CI95 and averaged 86.5%.
