In an attempt to produce experimental ovarian tumors, a study was carried out burying silk sutures soaked with 20-Methylcholanthrene in the ovaries of rats. Fourteen solid tumors were produced in 100 animals. The minimum time for tumor production was 21 weeks, and the tumor production rate was 22.5% after 41 weeks. Histologically 8 tumors were sarcomas, 5 adenocarcinomas, and 1 was a granulosa cell tumor, of the 8 sacromas, 3 were transplantable, being currently transplanted in the 7th, 5th, and 4th generations.
