Abstract

Size of Monochamus alternates adults (width of head capsule, lengths of fore- and hind wings, lengths of tibia and femur of hind leg, and dried body weight) was measured in several field populations, and the following results were obtained. 1) Adults from young infested forests were smaller than those from mature forests in all these measurements, but the ratios of femur to head capsule and of tibia to femur were uniform in all populations. 2) Histogram in the length of fore wing of adults from young forests shows a bell-shape, but that from mature forests was somewhat skew to right side. 3) Adults from mature forests were heavier than those from young forests on the average. 4) Relation of body weight to length of hind-wing showed a curvi-form curve. The values of body weight to length of hind-wing were larger in the populations from mature forests than in those from young forests.
