Description

A model was presented for estimating the mean growth of stand volume from temporary plot data on the basis of an assumption that the so-called MrrscHERLIcx's equation, which was derived from KRILMI's theory on the growth of stand volume, expresses the volume growth of a fully stocked stand. One of the coefficients of its equation is expected to present the site quality of the stand and the other is expected to be common to all stands of the same species. If the variation of stand-volume growth corresponds to that of site quality in a region, it can be described by regarding the first coefficient as a variable with a distribution in the region. Consequently, the mean-volume growth in a region can be estimated from sampling data, that is, temporary plot data. Two results estimated from temporary plot data used for yield-table construction were shown, but they seem to have been biased estimations. This is considered to be due to the bias of the site quality in the data, but the problem concerning this was left unsolved.
