In process of pre-finishing and finishing rolling, it is necessary to measure the width and the thickness for the control of roll gap and the quality guarantee of finished products. We have developed the measurement system of hot billet's size using optical instruments. It is possible to control automatically the rolling mill by these systems with a computer and gain the target finished size. We are convinced that these systems will hereafter contribute toward the rolling
