Abstract

Ischemic change on E.C.G. was found in postalimentary lipemia in coronary sclerotic patients. It is interesting to note the ischemic change was readily reversible with heparin administration. So it would be reasonable to consider that oxygen supply to heart muscle is affected by change of plasma lipid level. In order to clarify the mechanism of appearance of the ischemic change on E.C.G. during postalimentary lipemia, 100 gm of raw-cream was given to patients with coronary sclerosis and Pao2 was measured before and after fat intake. Pao2 was found to be decreased during the period of 4 hours after fat intake and then restored to the fasting level in 30 minutes after heparin injection. From these results, it has been suggested that oxygen diffusion in the lung and oxygen transport to the heart muscle were impaired by fat loading.
