抄録

In this report, we present how oral appliance (OA) therapy has improved premature ventricular contraction (PVC) in a patient with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). The patient was a 47-year-old man, who was diagnosed as having OSAS by polysomnography (PSG). Apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) was 10.2/h. Frequent PVC were also observed during sleep by holter monitoring. Total PVCs was 35,422 times, PVC couplets was 387 times, ventricular tachycardia was 13 times. OA therapy was applied to this patient because continuous positive airway pressure therapy could not be provided through medical insurance. The PSG under OA therapy showed the improvement of OSAS, AHI was 2.0/h. The holter monitoring under OA therapy showed the improvement of PVC; Total PVCs was 96 times, PVC couplets disappeared,, ventricular tachycardia disappeared. This report shows that mild OSAS was a possible cause of severe PVC in which OA was an effective therapy.
