A 28-year-old male with infective endocarditis (I.E.) caused by odontogenic infection is reported. The patient was admitted to a hospital for the treatment of cerebral infarction. On admission, he had a heart murmur and vegetation of the mitral valve. He was referred to the cardiovascular division of the university hospital and consulted our division chiefly concerning I. E.<BR>The clinical and radiographic examination showed a maxillary cyst, some apical periodontitis, some marginal periodontitis and multiple dental carious teeth. CRP value decreased gradually into the normal range after extraction of those teeth and a cystectomy. His infected mitral valve was successfully replaced with a prosthetic valve. The patient is now free from the symptoms with a good functional value.
