Description

The purpose of this study was to investigate the postoperative one-year positional change following Intraoral Vertical Ramus Osteotomy (IVRO). Retrospective radiographic assessments were performed on 43 patients who underwent bilateral IVRO to setback without interosseous fixation.<BR>The results were as follows:<BR>1. No relationship was observed between the openbite and the mandibular displacement during postoperative treatment for one year. In addition, no relationship was observed between the amount of mandibular displacement following surgery and that during postoperative treatment for one year.<BR>2. The postoperative mandibular position following IVRO was stable, and this method was effective to correct mandibular protrusion.
