Carbohydrate constituents in the chicken blood were investigated by gaschromatography, in relation to the application of "glucose test", a clinical method of blood sugar determination using O-toluidine and boric acid, for this species.<br>It was confirmed that no other sugar than α-or β-glucose occurred in the Sera of cocks, hens and chickens. Starvation led to the decrease in glucose concentration but no effect on the carbohydrate constituents.<br>The glucose values obtained by the "glucose test" were similar to those by gaschromatography.<br>These results show that the "glucose test" is available for the blood sugar determination in chickens.
