説明

Thirty Single-Comb White Leghorn hens were used to study the effect of high environmental temperature on blood sugar level, body temperature, respiration rates and egg production.
The single-cages were situated in a thermo-controlled room where the high environmental temperature for hens was adjusted to 30°C for 80min. (Exp. 1) and for 20 days (Exp. 2), respectively.
Significant increase was observed in blood sugar concentration, body temperature and respiration rates shortly after the environmental temperature had been raised from 20°C to 30°C.
The effect lasted longer in the blood sugar concentration which was significantly high until fifth day at 30°C. The treatment in the Exp. 2 caused fall in egg production, and decrease in egg weight and egg shell thickness.
