抄録

The effects of hypothalamus PRL-RF and gonadal steroids in cockerels on PRL levels of the anterior pituitary were investigated by pituitary stalk section and castration. Disc electrophoresis was applied for a measurement of the anterior pituitary PRL level.<br>Stalk section resulted in a remarkable decrease of PRL concentration and content in the anterior pituitary, while castration evoked a significant increase of PRL levels in the gland. Whereas no differece was observed among the birds of three groups which were treated with 1) stalk section alone, 2) stalk section with castration and 3) testosterone administration for 21 days after stalk section.
