Abstract

This paper describes the necessary procedures of photo-interpretation of avalanches by aerial photographs which is used for the purpose of judging the degree of danger in dangerous districts along the railway lines of the Japanese National Railway Corporation and furthermore, advantage is taken of these photographs for the design of snow protection works and a study of the alert system for snow disasters.
