説明
In order to predict the energy exchanges in a blowing snow layer, a simple vertical multilayer energy exchange model for blowing snow has been developed. Using this model, the fundamental elements characterizing the energy exchanges in a blowing snow layer have been analyzed at intervals of 0.01m between heights of 10 m and 0.1m from the snow surface at friction velocities of 0.5m/s and 0.75 m/s. The results of this analysis are as follows: 1) The effects of blowing snow on downward shortwave radiation are not as significant as those on downward longwave radiation; downward shortwave radiation decreases while upward shortwave radiation increases with a decrease in the height from the snow surface. Both these shortwave radiations change significantly near the snow surface. 2) Since blowing snow particles increase the emissivity of a blowing snow layer, downward longwave radiation increases with a decrease in the height from the snow surface; a change in upward longwave radiation, however, is small due to the high emissivity of the snow surface. 3) Blowing snow causes wind to become weak. 4) Air temperature and specific humidity change significantly near the lower layer with an increase in the number of particles. These results for the fundamental elements characterizing the energy exchanges in a blowing snow layer are consistent with those obtained by field observations and wind tunnel experiments.
