Description

Artificial snow avalanches released by explosives are widely practiced in recent years. However, reports on the usage of explosives are very few. This paper also deals with the usage of explosives, in particular emulsion explosives. Experiments were carried out changing the type of explosives, charge quantity and charge location. It was found that the destructed space was approximated to a sphere with radius R. Relation between the charge quantity L and the radius of sphere R was expressed by the following empirical equation : L=d·fH (H) ·fVF (V, F) ·fR (R) ·R3, where, d is a coefficient of blockade, fH (H) the correction coefficient for explosive depth H, fVF (V, F) the correction coefficient for explosion speed V and specific energy F, and fR (R) the correction coefficient for charge quantity. The validity of this equation and basic assumptions was experimentally demonstrated.
