Abstract

Crystal structures and magnetic properties of Pt1−xAuxMnSb compounds have been investigated with a X-ray diffractometer and a magnetic balance, respectively.<BR>It has been found that the lattice parameter of the pseudo-ternary compounds increases with increasing Au concentration. Magnetic moment per Mn atom of these compounds has a maximum value of 4.30μB at x=0.6. It is assumed from the results of Curie temperature measurements that the magnetic interaction in Pt1−xAuxMnSb is closely related to the concentration of valence electrons rather than the lattice parameter.
